The Team
The Victim Court Support Program team is an established group of approximately 20 dedicated Caseworkers, Site Coordinators, and Managers. This passionate and hardworking team provides vital services to victims and survivors of serious crime, offering emotional support, safety planning, court accompaniment, and referrals to other services. Their work plays a critical role in guiding victims through the criminal court process with care and respect.
The Role
As a Caseworker, Victim Court Support Programs, you will provide in-person support to victims, survivors, witnesses, and their families as they navigate the criminal court process. Working independently across several courthouses, including in Vancouver, Surrey, Port Coquitlam, and Abbotsford, you'll offer compassionate, trauma-informed services to clients experiencing complex grief and trauma. You'll collaborate closely with Crown Counsel to ensure comprehensive support for those involved in the court process. This rewarding role allows you to make a meaningful impact in the community, helping vulnerable individuals through challenging times.
Qualifications:
Education and Experience Requirements
- Completed post-secondary program in a related field (e.g. social services, social sciences, criminology, psychology, social work); and one (1) year related experience*; OR,
- Completed post-secondary coursework in a related field and two (2) years of related experience*
*Related experience may include volunteer/community work and must include each of the following:
- Experience providing direct service to victims/survivors of crime or trauma, or other people impacted by violence, loss, or marginalization.
- Experience working to build relationships with government, justice and community organizations delivering services to clients.
Preference may be given to applicants with:
- Experience working with the Criminal Justice System.
- Experience providing direct service to victims/survivors of crime.
- Experience working with Indigenous peoples and communities.
- More years of experience in the required and/or preferred experiences listed above.
PROVISOS/WILLINGNESS STATEMENTS
- Regular travel to the various courthouse locations is required.
- Occasional irregular hours of work may be required.
- Exposure to/or subject to sensitive case files and explicit/graphic materials including relating to child abuse, murder, sex assault and other traumatic or violent events.

Flexible work options are available; this position may be able to work up to 1 days at home per week subject to an approved telework agreement.
