Job Overview
The Senior Policy Analyst (SPA) reports to the Executive Director, Policy and Strategic Initiatives and works as part of the Policy and Strategic Initiatives Unit within the Community Safety and Victim Services Branch of the Ministry of Public Safety and Solicitor General. The SPA functions in a dynamic environment where priorities are continuously changing, requiring the incumbent to excel under pressure and with minimal direction. The SPA works with a variety of stakeholders including community, government and justice system partners regarding potentially sensitive or highly political issues, including gender-based violence initiatives, human trafficking, restorative justice, Murdered and Missing Indigenous Women and Girls, and victim services programming, and provides policy support across the branch. This position establishes and maintains strategic and collaborative relationships within the Branch, Ministry and other provincial Ministries as well as with the federal government, police and other external stakeholders and clients.
Qualifications:
Education and Experience Requirements
- Undergraduate degree in related field (e.g., criminology, law, public policy, public administration, business administration, social sciences, etc.) PLUS, three (3) years related experience in each of the following:
- Working in a public sector environment leading strategic policy initiatives: either through the development of legislation, regulations and/or broad-scale policies or programs.
- Leading project working groups/committees with diverse stakeholders (e.g., provincial or municipal governments, community agencies, etc.).
- Developing and maintaining effective relationships with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders and partners.
- Concisely and persuasively writing a range of documents (e.g., strategies/action plans, briefing notes, cabinet submissions, PowerPoint presentations, treasury board submissions).
- Working with senior officials and providing advice and recommendations.
- Preference may be given to candidates with experience in the following:
- Six (6) months’ experience working with Indigenous partners and stakeholders.
- Six (6) months’ experience working with marginalised groups (e.g. 2SLGBTQIA+, sex workers, etc.)
- Six (6) months’ experience delivering complex projects/initiatives, including managing budgets and contracts.

This position can be based out of any of the location(s) listed above.
Flexible work options are available; this position may be able to work from home up to 4 days a week subject to an approved telework agreement.
There is currently a temporary opportunity available until June 12, 2027.
