This is a restricted lateral posting open to employees who hold a (grid 27) base position

Job Overview
Develops provincial clinical guidelines that have the potential to improve the clinical care of BC Primary Care Practitioners/Providers and will support a sustainable health care system. Undertakes systematic reviews of scientific literature to enable and support evidence based provincial guidelines. Evaluates the effectiveness of existing guidelines and potential new topics. Promotes BC Guidelines (www.BCGuidelines.ca) through medical conferences, teaching environments, and national clinical guideline databases. Develops the content for summary and patient information related to the BC Guidelines. Advises the Medical Services Commission (MSC) and Executive Ministry staff of the cost and policy implications related to particular guidelines.

Qualifications:
Education and Experience Requirements

  • Master’s Degree in research focused field such as biology, health sciences or other relevant discipline to the work and three (3) years of related experience; OR
  • Bachelor’s Degree in a related research focused field such as biology, health sciences or other relevant discipline to the work and five (5) years of related experience; OR
  • Diploma in public administration, business administration, health administration, law, economics, or a related field and six (6) years of related experience; OR
  • An equivalent combination of education and related experience may be considered.

Related progressive experience must include each of the following: 

  • Experience in research and literature reviews with a focus on developing clinical research or practice guidelines. 
  • Experience conducting research and data analysis including major research projects.
  • Experience in project management and group facilitation.

Preference may be given to candidates with the following:

  • Master’s Degree in research focused field such as biology, health sciences or other relevant discipline to the work and a minimum of three (3) years of related experience.
  • One (1) year of experience in the BC healthcare system such as a medical practice or health system environment. This may include working with and participating and chairing medical committees.
  • One (1) year of experience in developing, implementing, promoting and evaluating clinical practice guidelines. 
  • Preference may be given to applicants who identify as Indigenous (First Nations, Métis or Inuit).

WILLINGNESS STATEMENT:

  • Travel in BC to attend meetings, conferences, and to accommodate after hours meetings with physicians, health care practitioners and other subject matter experts is required. Most meetings take place in Vancouver and Victoria.

About this Position:
There is currently one temporary opportunity until December 31, 2027. This position may be extended or become permanent.
This position can be based out of any of the location(s) listed above.
Flexible work options are available; this position may be able to work up to five (5) days at home per week subject to an approved telework agreement.
An eligibility list may be established to fill future temporary and permanent vacancies.

Employees of the BC Public Service must be located in BC at the time of employment.
