Job Overview
Under the delegated authority of the Superintendent of Motor Vehicles, Driver Medical Fitness Adjudicators review information submitted by medical professionals, police, and other sources to make decisions about individual driving privileges. In making Driver Medical Fitness determinations, the Adjudicator will also apply the principles of administrative fairness and consider the individual characteristics and abilities of the driver (i.e., private or commercial driver; compensation for the functional impairment; compliance with treatment regime; insight into the impact that their medical condition may have on driving).
Qualifications:
Education and Experience Requirements
- Post-Secondary Degree in a related field such as Public or Business Administration and a minimum of 1 year of *related experience; OR
- Post-Secondary Diploma in a related field such as Public or Business Administration and a minimum of 3 years of *related experience; OR
- An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
*Related work experience includes the following:
- Writing formal adjudication decisions (for example: writing decisions including analyzing evidence and making findings of fact or writing recommendations including setting out options and recommendations).
- Interpreting and applying legislation, regulations, and policy in complex situations.
- Making decisions in an environment where opposing and/or conflicting evidence and views are expressed while maintaining impartiality.
- Reviewing and evaluating evidence.
Preference may be given to applicants with the following:
- Experience interpreting and applying the Motor Vehicle of Act of BC.

Flexible work options are available; this position may be able to work up to 5 days at home per week subject to an approved telework agreement.
