This is a restricted lateral posting open to employees who hold a grid level 27 base position.
Job Overview
This position increases provincial capacity for aquatic habitat (freshwater and coastal marine) restoration by providing specialized expertise and support to existing programs, initiatives, and practitioners. Working collaboratively with ministry staff, Indigenous Nations, partners, and restoration professionals, the position helps advance shared priorities and improve project outcomes. The position also strengthens coordination by connecting people, knowledge, funding opportunities, and restoration efforts, while serving as the lead ministry technical and policy resource on restoration planning, policy, permitting, and project delivery to enhance the effectiveness and implementation of ongoing initiatives.
Qualifications:
Education and Experience Requirements
- Master's degree in biological sciences or a related field and 2 years of related experience, or
- Bachelor's degree in biological sciences or a related field and 3 years of related experience.
Related experience
- Experience interpreting and applying environmental management legislation, regulations, and policies.
- Experience conducting public consultation processes dealing with environmental management issues.
Professional registration and certification requirements
- You must be registered, or immediately eligible for registration, as a Professional Biologist (RPBio) with the BC College of Applied Biologists (CAB). Note: "Immediately eligible for registration" means meeting all requirements for full professional registration and completing the process of obtaining full registration with the relevant BC professional association within six (6) months of employment.
