Job Overview
As a member of the Net Zero Policy Transition Team within the Clean Growth branch, the Senior Policy Analyst plays a key role in the development and operation of the Net Zero New Industry Policy, to support British Columbia’s transition to a clean energy, low-carbon economy.  The position initiates, and is assigned to, complex policy development projects as well as responds to issues related to the Ministry’s mandate and associated policy initiated by other ministries, provincial government agencies or stakeholders.  This position leads the research and development of industrial policy through all required stages and coordinates policy implementation, including the review of industrial emissions reduction plans. Work will involve engaging directly with industrial stakeholders and collaborating with ministries responsible for industrial development and deployment, and British Columbia’s clean technology sector.

Qualifications:
Education and Experience Requirements

  • A degree in public administration, business administration, law, economics, natural resource management or related field, and a minimum of two (2) years of recent (within the past 5 years) related experience. An equivalent combination of education and experience may also be considered.
     

Recent (within the past 5 years) related experience must include each of the following:

  • Experience with policy development or implementation, with a preference for climate change mitigation, natural resources, and industrial sustainability experience, 
  • Experience managing projects and/or project components in a multi-faceted stakeholder environment.
  • Experience writing for an executive/senior-level leadership audience (examples include reports, policy concept papers, presentations, briefing notes).
     

Preference may be given to applicants with:

  • A graduate degree in public administration, business administration, law, economics, natural resource management or equivalent. 
  • Related experience working within, or developing policy for, industrial sectors.
  • Experience with stakeholder consultations/engagements, particularly within the industrial sector, to support policy development. 
  • Experience incorporating technical and/or quantitative analysis to inform discussions and decision-making.

This position can be based out of any of the location(s) listed above.
Flexible work options are available; this position may be able to work up to 5 days at home per week subject to an approved telework agreement.
