Description

The Team
The Professional Conduct Unit within the Teacher Regulation Branch plays a critical role in maintaining public trust and confidence in British Columbia’s K-12 education system. Working under the direction of the Commissioner for Teacher Regulation and the Director of Certification, the team is responsible for receiving and assessing complaints and reports, conducting investigations, coordinating disciplinary processes, and maintaining the public teacher registry. This established and highly collaborative team of 18 professionals brings together diverse expertise in a collegial and supportive environment, united by a shared commitment to student safety, accountability, and regulatory excellence.

The Role
As an Investigator, you will independently manage a complex caseload of investigations involving allegations of teacher misconduct or incompetence, ensuring all work is conducted fairly, impartially, and in accordance with the Teachers Act, administrative law, and principles of procedural fairness. Qualifications:
Education and Experience Requirements

•    Bachelor’s degree in law or a related discipline.
•    One (1) year working on and independently managing case files in a regulatory, investigative, or legal setting.
•    Experience interviewing for the purpose of finding facts. 
 •   An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

Preference may be given to applicants with: 
•    Experience interviewing using trauma informed practice in a sensitive environment.
•    Experience interviewing minors.
•    Experience working in the education sector.
•    French language proficiency.
•    Additional years of experience in any of the above requirements and/or preferences.

About this Position:

This position is based out of Vancouver, BC.
Flexible work options are available; this position may be able to work up to 4 days at home per week subject to an approved telework agreement.
