The Team
The Data Analytics team is part of the Corporate Compliance & Controls Monitoring Branch within the Office of the Comptroller General, the lead governance organization for financial management in the BC Public Service. Working within an established and collaborative team environment, members use data analytics, statistical analysis, and risk-based assurance practices to strengthen internal controls and support sound financial management across government.
The Role
The Financial Compliance Analyst supports a comprehensive, continuous, corporate risk-based assurance review program by conducting data analytics, statistical sampling, compliance monitoring, and policy analysis activities. This role provides an opportunity to contribute to government-wide financial governance by identifying risks, developing practical recommendations, and partnering with stakeholders across the public service to improve accountability, efficiency, and internal controls.
Qualifications:
Education and Experience Requirements
- Degree, diploma, or designation in financial management or an equivalent related field (e.g., Financial Management Certificate program, Procurement and Contract Management Program, Economics, Finance, Accounting, or a related field), and two years of related work experience.
- Minimum of three years’ experience leading and resolving client and/or staff issues.
- Minimum of three years’ experience analyzing financial information, identifying trends and preparing related reports.
- Experience handling multiple priorities concurrently.
- Experience preparing written reports for senior management and/or executive.
- Experience in the application and interpretation of general finance and/or administration policies and processes, financial reporting, and/or financial systems and controls.
Preference may be given to applicants with any of the following:
- Experience managing projects within tight timelines that affect many external stakeholders/partners.
- Experience in business case development and/or conducting analytical research to support financial management and internal control practices, with the ability to make recommendations and put forth solutions.
- Experience implementing financial policies and procedures and/or developing/leading new business processes and procedures.

This position can be based out of any of the location(s) listed above.
Flexible work options are available; this position may be able to work up to 4 days at home per week subject to an approved telework agreement.
An eligibility list may be established to fill future temporary and permanent vacancies.
