Job Overview
The Senior Collection Officer is responsible for the timely enforcement of the collection of high-risk complex, delinquent, or potentially precedent setting accounts assigned by other Ministries. The position provides leadership and guidance in the delivery of collection services for various not-tax portfolios and assists with the development and recommendation for changes to policy, procedures, and legislative changes to improve methods for collection.
Qualifications:
Education and Experience Requirements
- Certificate or diploma in a related field such as business administration, public administration, or other similar program plus related work experience listed below; OR
- An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
Related work experience must include the following:
- Five (5) years working in a public facing role.
- Three (3) years collecting large, complex accounts using multiple complex systems.
- Three (3) years interpreting and applying legislation related to debt collection.
Preference may be given to applicants with:
- Two (2) years leadership experience
- Two (2) years experience working in a fast paced, high volume work environment
- Two (2) years experience reading, understanding, and interpreting financial statements and applying legislation to enforce debt collection.
- Two (2) years experience in performing risk analysis and negotiating security agreements and compromise settlements.
- Two (2) years experience working with the Bankruptcy and Insolvency Act, identifying legal options, advancing priorities and filing claims.

This position can be based out of any of the location(s) listed above.
Flexible work options are available; this position may be able to work from home up to a 5 days a week subject to an approved telework agreement.
