The Team
The Investigation Team is a collaborative and growing team made up of three Major Case Management units, where Financial Investigators, Financial and Open-Source Analysts, and Case File Specialists work closely together on complex files. We believe that bringing together people with different backgrounds, experiences, and perspectives helps us approach challenges thoughtfully and make stronger decisions. Working alongside legal counsel, leadership, and law enforcement partners, the team helps address unlawful activity and supports safer communities across British Columbia.
The Role
The Financial Investigator leads a Major Case Management file team and plays a key role in ensuring financial and investigative findings are accurate, well-supported, and suitable for use in civil court proceedings. This is an exciting opportunity to join the BC Civil Forfeiture Office during a period of significant growth and help advance innovative approaches to disrupting money laundering and other unlawful activity. As one of the first people to step into this newly created role, you'll have the chance to help shape the position, work on complex and high-profile investigations, and contribute to outcomes that make a meaningful difference for communities across British Columbia. Qualifications:
Education and Experience Requirements
- Degree in accounting, business, criminal justice, or a related field, and a minimum of four (4) years of recent, relevant experience.
Recent, Relevant Experience (within the last five (5) years) must include all of the following:
- Leading complex financial, forensic or proceeds-of-crime investigations from intake through to evidentiary completion – in a criminal, regulatory or civil context;
- Tracing assets, beneficial ownership, corporate structures and financial flows using financial records;
- Obtaining, analyzing and assessing financial records for evidentiary relevance, and reliability; and
- Working within lawful information-sharing/gathering frameworks applicable to sensitive investigations.
Preference may be given to applicants with:
- A professional designation, certification, or advanced training in areas such as accounting, anti-money laundering, financial crime investigation, or financial forensic investigation.

This position can be based out of any of the location(s) listed above.
Flexible work options are available; these positions may be able to work up to four (4) days at home per week subject to an approved telework agreement.
A Criminal Record Check (CRC) will be required.
