The Team
The Tactical Solutions Team is an established, provincially dispersed team of approximately 15 professional and technical experts dedicated to improving permitting outcomes across the Natural Resource Ministries. We are a collaborative and supportive group that values flexibility, curiosity, partnership, resilience, and innovative problem-solving. Drawing on expertise in permitting policy, business processes, application systems and service delivery we work with partners across the Natural Resource Sector, to identify and implement solutions for complex permitting challenges. Our work supports a variety of high-priority provincial initiatives including Housing, Connectivity, Electrification and other government priorities.

The Role
The Tactical Solutions Team within Permitting Transformation Division provides leadership and expertise in delivering cross-ministry permitting coordination, streamlining and service improvement solutions. As one of two Team Leads, you will provide leadership, guidance and support to a team of professional and technical experts while fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, and resilience. Building on a solid foundation of permitting knowledge and experience, you will help the team deliver practical and effective solutions in a dynamic, fast-paced and evolving environment. Success in this role requires adaptability, sound judgement and the ability to navigate changing priorities while maintaining a focus on results and service excellence. 

Key responsibilities include team leadership and supervision, project and program management, relationship management with Natural Resource partners and the development and delivery of executive level presentations, recommendations and briefings. The position plays a critical role in identifying, designing and implementing permitting solutions that benefit citizens, communities, Indigenous partners, industry and interested parties throughout the province. This is an exciting opportunity for individuals seeking to broaden their experience across multiple natural resource sectors while contributing to high-profile initiatives with province-wide impact. Qualifications:
Education and Experience Requirements

• Minimum Undergraduate Degree in in forestry, biology, agrology, or other natural resource management area and 5 years current and related experience working in the natural resource sector; or an equivalent combination of education and training from a recognized institution and 7 years current and direct related experience in the natural resource sector.
• Registered, or immediately eligible for registration (within six (6) months of employment), as a Professional Agrologist (PAg) with the BC Institute of Agrologists (BCIA), or as a Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) or Professional Geoscientist (P.Geo.) with Engineers and Geoscientists BC (EGBC). Confirmation of registration/eligibility is required before an offer of employment can be made.
• 3 years’ experience managing multiple projects or leading a component (e.g. sub-project) of a major project, using accepted and fundamental project management standards, principles and tools of project management.
• 3 years’ experience managing relationships with senior government leadership, senior level stakeholders and leading consultation sessions.
• Experience in directing the work for other project managers, professional employees, and/or consultants.
• Experience in conflict resolution.

Preference may be given to applicants with the following: 

• Experience leading policy review teams
• Experience in science-based policy development in a natural resource management capacity
• Experience working with professional and technical standards, legislation and policies related to natural resource permitting in BC

Remote work is allowed, this position can work up to full time from their home in British Columbia subject to an approved telework agreement. The locations listed above are to assist applicants in searching for this opportunity and are not a complete list of locations.
