Job Overview

The Asset Management Assistant supports the BC Wildfire Service by helping coordinate the management of assets, fleet vehicles, facilities, inventory, and equipment within a Fire Centre. The role ensures operational resources are maintained, available, and ready to support wildfire response and other emergency operations. Responsibilities include monitoring inventory and fleet usage, coordinating maintenance and repairs, supporting contract administration and reporting, assisting with asset planning and procurement, and working with internal and external partners to maintain operational readiness. The position also participates in emergency response activities and may be assigned roles within the Incident Command System (ICS) as required.

Qualifications
Education and Experience Requirements

• Grade 12 graduation; OR
• An equivalent combination of education and training may be considered; AND
• Valid Class 5 drivers licence.

Preference may be given to candidates with 1 or more of the following:
• Experience working with forklift or skid steer.
• Experience working with basic wildland firefighting equipment.
• Experience in contract and procurement management.
• Experience in facilities, assets (including inventory management), or vehicle fleet management.
• Experience creating and managing spreadsheets, and working with standard computer applications (e.g., Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook).

• To fly in aircraft (fixed wing and rotary) as required.

• To participate in ICS positions as assigned.
• To work under adverse or stressful conditions, including smoke, extreme heat and mountainous terrain in remote and isolated conditions.
