Job Overview
Reporting to a Senior Authorizations Specialist or Senior Licensed Authorizations Officer, and working in a variety of settings, the Authorizations Specialist provides senior technical advice and may make decisions regarding the allocation of resources and adjudication of resource authorizations for the Natural Resource Sector.

Qualifications:
Education and Experience Requirements:

  • Master’s Degree or higher and one (1) year of related experience; OR 
  • Bachelor’s Degree and two (2) years of related experience; OR 
  • Diploma and three (3) years of related experience; OR 
  • Certificate or coursework and four (4) years of related experience; OR 
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered. 
  • Valid BC driver’s licence.

Related Experience may include:

  • Related experience working in natural resource management.
  • Experience in consulting, negotiating and resolving conflicts with partners and stakeholders in natural resource management.
  • Experience performing technical duties and working with key statutes that support natural resource management.

Preference may be given to those with:

  • Experience working with the Land Act or Fish and Seafood Act and associated regulations.

Additional Requirements:

  • Ability to conduct field work which may include travel to remote areas by vehicle, boat, air or foot, overnight or extended stay in rough camp conditions and outdoor work in all weather conditions.
  • Must be physically able to carry equipment and supplies in difficult terrain.
  • May be required to operate field equipment (i.e., quad, snowmobile).

About this Position:
There is currently one (1) permanent, full time position available.
This position can be based in one of the following locations in the Coast Area, due to the required site visits and inspections on the coast: Campbell River, Courtenay, Daajing Giids, Nanaimo, Port Alberni, Port McNeill, Powell River, Squamish, Surrey, Victoria.
Depending on the successful candidate’s location, a bi-weekly isolation allowance may apply.
Flexible work options are available; each position may be able to work two (2) or more days at home per week subject to an approved Telework Agreement.
Employees of the BC Public Service must be located in BC at the time of employment.
An eligibility list may be established to fill future temporary and permanent vacancies.
