The Role:
Big projects. Complex challenges. Meaningful public impact. This role leads the planning, delivery, and stewardship of major infrastructure projects along BC’s abandoned rail corridors, helping restore critical assets and support safe, accessible trail networks for years to come. Working at the intersection of engineering, project delivery, and public service, this position offers a rare opportunity to help shape a landmark corridor while leading diverse teams, contracts, and engaging community partners.

Qualifications:
Education and Experience Requirements:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering, Forestry or Natural Resource Management or a Technical Diploma in a related field (i.e. forestry, forest engineering, survey geomatics, geoscience, construction) or equivalent.
• Experience in Natural Resource Management, Resource Road Engineering, Natural Resource Operations and access management.
• Experience in contract and/or project supervision.
• Budget management experience.

Professional Registration and Certification Requirements:

• Registered, or immediately eligible for registration, as a Registered Forest Technologist (RFT) or related designation with Forest Professionals BC (FPBC). Note: “Immediately eligible for registration” means meeting all requirements for full professional registration and completing the process of obtaining full registration with the relevant BC professional association within six (6) months of employment.

Additional Requirements:

• Valid BC Class 5 Driver’s Licence or equivalent.
• Willing and able to conduct field work which may include travel and outdoor work in all weather conditions and flying in remote locations.
• Willing and able to operate a variety of equipment as required.

About this Position:
Amendment July 30th, 2026: Kamloops added as a possible location.
There is currently one (1) temporary opportunity available until September 1st, 2028; this may be extended or made permanent.
This position can be located in Penticton, Chilliwack, Vernon, Nelson, Castlegar, Merritt, or Kamloops.
Flexible work options are available; this position may be able to work up to two (2) days at home per week subject to an approved Telework Agreement.
Employees of the BC Public Service must be located in BC at the time of employment.
An eligibility list may be established to fill future temporary and permanent vacancies in the above locations.
A Criminal Record Check (CRC) will be required.
