The Team
The Strategic Communications Division leads government-wide communications, marketing, and digital initiatives that help inform and engage British Columbians. Working in partnership with ministries across government, the division develops communication strategies, delivers public information campaigns, manages digital channels and products, and supports government priorities through effective, citizen-focused communications. The Executive Administrative Services team plays a key role in supporting the division's leadership and operations, bringing together a collaborative group of professionals who value sound judgment, adaptability, strong relationships, and exceptional client service.
The Role
Reporting to the Executive Coordinator, the Executive Administrative Assistant is a key member of the Executive Administrative Services team, providing executive support to the Assistant Deputy Minister of Strategic Communications while working collaboratively with fellow Executive Administrative Assistants, the Executive Coordinator, and colleagues across the division. The role supports the effective coordination of executive priorities, operations, and information flow in a fast-paced and dynamic environment. Ideal for a skilled administrative professional who enjoys problem-solving and anticipating needs, this position offers the opportunity to work on a wide variety of files, build relationships across government, and support initiatives that help inform and engage British Columbians. Qualifications:
Education and Experience Requirements
- Secondary graduation or GED equivalent; PLUS a Post-Secondary Certificate in Office Administration; OR
- An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
- A minimum of 2 years of experience in an administrative role in a confidential capacity.
- A minimum of 6 months of experience managing executive calendars and meeting requests.
- Experience with systems, operational processes and administrative procedures such as scheduling meetings, travel arrangements, correspondence and records tracking systems.
- Experience drafting, formatting and proofreading a variety of documents, including correspondence, memos, detailed reports and meeting agendas.
Preference may be given to applicants with:
- A minimum of 6 months of experience providing administrative support to senior management in a confidential capacity.
- Experience using document tracking systems.
- Experience with government Freedom of Information (FOI) processes.
- Experience with the use and management of a SharePoint Site.

Flexible work options are available; this position may be able to work from home a few days a week subject to an approved telework agreement.
