Description
The Team
The BC Wildfire Service (BCWS) is the Province of British Columbia’s primary year-round emergency response organization for wildfire management and also provides expertise and services during other natural hazard emergencies. Operating through six Fire Centres, 33 Zones, and two provincial centres in Kamloops and Victoria, BCWS works collaboratively with provincial and federal partners, local governments, First Nations and Indigenous organizations, and other agencies to support effective wildfire and emergency management across the province. The organization’s work is guided by the four pillars of emergency management: Prevention and Mitigation, Preparedness, Response, and Recovery.
The Role
The Wildfire Financial Services Clerk is responsible for processing corporate financial transactions and providing financial and administrative support to the BC Wildfire Service in a dynamic environment. The role reviews financial transactions and payroll documentation for accuracy and compliance, processes accounts payable and receivable, identifies and resolves documentation discrepancies, and supports procurement, reporting, training, and financial record adjustments. The position also responds to inquiries from staff, clients, partners, and stakeholders, participates in committees and special projects, and may be assigned Incident Command System functions. The role requires strong attention to detail, sound judgement, and the ability to adapt to changing priorities while supporting BCWS operations
Qualifications
Education and Experience Requirements:
• Grade 12 or equivalent.
• Experience working in an office setting and computerized systems.
Preference may be given to candidates with a combination of, or all, the following:
• Training in basic accounting or bookkeeping.
• Minimum 6 months experience in processing accounts payable, bookkeeping, or basic accounting.

Currently there is 1 auxiliary, full-time opportunity available in Prince George until June 1, 2027.
An eligibility list may be established for future temporary and/or permanent opportunities.
Flexible work options are available; this position may be able to work up to 2 days at home per week as per the Telework Agreement. Flexible work options may not be available during emergency operations response periods.
