The Team: 
The Forest Analysis and Inventory Branch plays a central role in supporting forest management decisions throughout British Columbia. Through its leadership in forest inventory, timber supply analysis, and modelling, the Branch provides the data, expertise, and strategic insight needed to address complex and evolving resource management challenges. The team's work helps inform provincial policy, operational planning, and long-term stewardship objectives.

The Role:
This is a rare opportunity to influence some of British Columbia's most significant forest management decisions. The role provides provincial leadership in timber supply analysis and forest estate modelling, delivering the evidence and expertise that inform allowable annual cut determinations and support sustainable resource management. Working at the intersection of science, policy, and stewardship, this position addresses complex issues such as climate change, First Nations’ interests, and cumulative effects. As the provincial expert, the Senior Analyst provides strategic advice to senior decision-makers, government partners, and stakeholders on legislation, policy, and practices related to Timber Supply Reviews and AAC determinations.

Qualifications:
Education and Experience Requirements:

• Bachelor of Science in Resource Management, Forestry or a related field and at least five (5) years of current (gained over the last seven (7) years) of experience in resource analysis, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Extensive experience with and knowledge of forest resource analysis models/modelling platforms, database management systems, geographic information systems and growth and yield models used by the Ministry of Forests.
• Current experience (in the last five (5) years) preparing timber supply analyses to support natural resource management and decision making.
• Current experience (in the last five (5) years) leading professional staff or work teams in resource management, hiring, managing performance, team building, and developing and managing annual work plans.

Professional Registration and Certification Requirements:

• Registered, or immediately eligible for registration, as a Registered Professional Forester (RPF) in BC with Forest Professionals BC (FPBC). Note: “Immediately eligible for registration” means meeting all requirements for full professional registration and completing the process of obtaining full registration with the relevant BC professional association within six (6) months of employment.

About this Position:
There is currently one (1) permanent, full time position available.
This position can be based in one of the following locations: 100 Mile House, Burns Lake, Campbell River, Castlegar, Fort St James, Fort St John, Kamloops, Mackenzie, Nanaimo, Nelson, Port McNeill, Prince George, Surrey, Victoria, Williams Lake. Other locations may be considered based on operational requirements.
Depending on the successful candidate’s location, a bi-weekly isolation allowance may apply.
Flexible work options are available; this position may be able to work up to two (2) days at home per week subject to an approved Telework Agreement.
Employees of the BC Public Service must be located in BC at the time of employment.
An eligibility list may be established to fill future temporary and permanent vacancies.
