This is a restricted lateral posting open to employees who hold a Band 4 base position

Job Overview
The position provides strategic and operational direction to the regional Indigenous Relations team and serves as a strategic liaison for Indigenous, non-government organizations, industry associations, federal and local governments. The position develops and maintains a broad network of strategic and operational relationships within the region, area and provincially across the Natural Resource Sector agencies to communicate/collaborate on Indigenous-related reconciliation initiatives, support policy development, and agreement negotiations, and promote successful delivery of the priorities and goals of the Ministry. The position also acts as a key resource for the Ministry Regional Management Team (RMT) on behalf of the region. The position requires excellent problem-solving, communication and change management skills with the ability to exercise a high degree of judgment in a situation of constant change, business transformation and shifting roles and responsibilities.

Qualifications:
Education and Experience Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in natural resource management, indigenous relations studies, business/public administration or a related field and two (2) years of related experience; OR 
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
  • Valid Class 5 BC driver's license

Related experience must include all of the following:

  • Experience in natural resources management.
  • Experience providing advice to senior executives.
  • Experience in an operational management capacity with business and organizational planning accountabilities.
  • Experience dealing with complex natural resource management issues that may significantly impact multiple parties.
  • Experience working with First Nations communities and facilitating Indigenous engagement and/or negotiations.
  • Experience developing processes, procedures and practices to support work team and/or business delivery.
  • Experience leading diverse teams of staff, including developing and evaluating performance goals, coaching, team-building, and mentoring.
  • Experience in financial and human resource management.

Preference may be given to applicants with the following:

  • Four (4) years or more of experience in any of the points listed above.

This position can be based out of any of the location(s) listed above.
Flexible work options are available; this position may be able to work up to 2 days at home per week subject to an approved telework agreement.
