Job Overview
The Technical Analyst is the Workers’ Advisers Office’s (WAO’s) local technological expert on troubleshooting, triaging, and resolving local equipment issues and acts as a primary point of contact when working on systems support and development activities between the Ministry and WorkSafeBC respectively. The WAO is in a unique IT relationship with the Ministry and WorkSafeBC.  WAO’s Case Management System (SYMVO), Worker Inquiry (PreIQ), and Worker Portal reside on the Ministry network/server and are supported by Connect Services BC.  WAO’s IT hardware, software, SharePoint, and internet services reside on WorkSafeBC’s network/server and are supported by WorkSafeBC.  This position is responsible for providing technical support to maintain computerized systems including hardware, software, network and business applications and ensuring that these systems integrate seamlessly between the Ministry and WorkSafeBC. 

Qualifications:
Education and Experience Requirements

  • Degree in a related field plus a minimum of 2 years related experience; OR

  • Diploma in a related field plus a minimum of 4 years related experience; OR

  • An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
     

Related experience must include:

  • Six (6) months experience troubleshooting, testing and implementing software and hardware solutions.

  • Experience in network administration.

  • Experience in web design, development, configuration and maintenance. 

  • Experience in developing and presenting progress updates for executive leadership. 

  • Experience developing and maintaining relationships with internal and external partners.
     

Preference may be given to applicants with one or more of the following:

  • Experience with all phases of project management and change management. 

  • Experience with CMS lite.

  • Experience with SharePoint and/or Microsoft Teams.
     

Proviso/Willingness Statements

  • Travel throughout the province is a requirement for this position.

About this Position:
This is a temporary opportunity until 04/05/2027, with the possibility of extension and/or the position becoming permanent.
An eligibility list may be established to fill future temporary and permanent vacancies.
Flexible work options are available; this position may be able to work from home four (4) days a week subject to an approved telework agreement.
