Job Overview
The Senior Manager, Global Markets contributes to and organizes the operational delivery of Ministry programs, services and initiatives for trade and investment between British Columbia and China and provides guidance and oversight of BC’s Trade and Investment offices in China.  The position provides expert knowledge of key market-focused customs and organizations, including how business is done and approaches that can succeed in each market. The position also supports government missions and delegations travelling for economic development, investment and trade purposes.

Qualifications:
Education and Experience Requirements

  • University degree and a minimum of three (3) years of recent, related experience in the following:

    • Experience in business development and client management in an international context. 

    • Experience providing written advice (briefing notes, memos, reports, presentations) to executive level leaders in the private or public sector.

    • Experience establishing collaborative relationships with a variety of business and government leaders.

    • Experience in team management; contract management; financial management; and leading multi-party negotiations.

  • An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
     

Preference may be given to candidates with one or more of the following:

  • Proficiency in Mandarin and/or Cantonese (reading, writing, listening and speaking).

  • Experience working in a related field in a Canadian government (federal, provincial, territorial) or relevant internationally focused organizations.

About this Position:
This is a temporary opportunity until September 24, 2027, with the possibility of extension and/or the position becoming permanent.
An eligibility list may be established to fill future temporary and permanent vacancies.
Flexible work options are available; this position may be able to work from home a few days a week subject to an approved telework agreement.
A Criminal Record Check (CRC) will be required. 
This position is excluded from union membership.
