This is a restricted lateral posting open to employees who hold a Grid 21 base position

Job Overview
To independently conduct reviews and render final, legally-binding decisions in complex cases.  Provides advice and interpretation of legislation and regulations to other program areas. Adjudicators must independently exercise sound judgment, particularly in making decisions in the face of conflicting evidence. The issues addressed require application of relevant statute law, the principles established by court decisions and the rules of natural justice and fairness. This demands significant judgement, initiative and discretion.

Qualifications:
Education and Experience Requirements

  • Post-secondary diploma or degree in a related field (i.e. Public or Business Administration or equivalent) OR a combination of education and experience may be considered.
  • Minimum of 1 year demonstrated work experience in writing formal adjudication decisions (for example: writing decisions including analyzing evidence and making findings of fact, or writing recommendations including setting out options and recommendations).
  • Minimum of 1 year experience interpreting and applying legislation, regulations and policy in complex situations.
  • Minimum of 1 year experience making decisions in an environment where opposing and/or conflicting evidence and views are expressed while maintaining impartiality.
  • Minimum of 1 year experience reviewing and evaluating evidence.
  • Preference may be given to individuals who have experience interpreting and applying the Motor Vehicle Act of BC.

About this Position:
This is a temporary opportunity until 09/30/2027. This position may be extended or become permanent.
