Job Overview
The Director, Corporate Services (DCS) is a senior strategic leader reporting to the Executive Director, CSSB. The DCS oversees the corporate service functions that enable effective operations across the BC Compliance & Enforcement Agency (BC-CEA), including financial management, human resources, hiring, training, safety and broader organizational support systems. This role provides authoritative corporate guidance and direction to a collective of natural resource law enforcement agencies and supporting branches. Specifically, the Natural Resource Officer Service (NROS), BC Conservation Officer Service (BCCOS), the Compliance and Environmental Enforcement Branch (CEEB) and the Service Transformation Branch (STB), as well as serving as a key divisional resource to the ADM’s Office.

As a core member of the CSSB Leadership Team, the DCS ensures seamless information flow between executive leadership, management and regional staff. The role brings forward operational insight, corporate perspective, and expert advice to Ministry executive and other partners and stakeholders, strengthening alignment between government priorities and frontline operational realities. The DCS acts as both a corporate and operational leader, applying sound judgement, strategic awareness, and perseverance to support the broader Agency and branch staff engaged in regional operations. Through strong leadership, collaboration, and a whole-agency perspective, the Director, Corporate Services strengthens the Agency’s capacity to deliver effective, coordinated and accountable compliance and enforcement services across the province. 

Qualifications:
Education:

  • University degree in a relevant discipline such as public administration, business administration, law, or equivalent combination of education/experience. Equivalent experience includes:
  • A superior track record of experience leading and conducting audits, program reviews, evaluations or risk assessments; 
  • Working extensively within the natural resource sector, with a focus on financial management and human resources.

Experience:

  • Experience in program administration, including allocating resources, budget management and business planning.
  • Experience in effective issues management.
  • A minimum of three (3) years of experience leading significant change initiatives.
  • A minimum of ten (10) years of experience leading, coaching, mentoring and supervising staff and directing a diverse workgroup of employees including goal setting, performance management and succession planning.
  • Experience with financial policy, problem solving, and project management.
  • Experience in planning and performance measurement, preferably within the public sector.
  • Experience in the management of financial resources and staff.
  • Proficiency in the use of a wide range of software including database systems and Microsoft applications.

There is currently one (1) temporary opportunity available for approximately nine (9) months.
This position can be based in a Natural Resource Sector office. The locations listed above are to assist applicants in searching for this opportunity and are not a complete list of locations.
Depending on the successful candidate’s location, a bi-weekly isolation allowance may apply.
Employees of the BC Public Service must be located in BC at the time of employment.
