Job Overview

This temporary opportunity will primarily deliver responsibilities dedicated to the Prep, Pack and Move project dedicated to movement of the province’s collections and archives to PARC Campus—the new provincial archives, research and collections building in Colwood, BC.

Registration is responsible for clearly documenting objects, specimens and archival documents entering and leaving the collection. Registration is the main point of contact for new acquisitions and documenting deaccessions, for loans in and out of the collections, as well as being the facilitator for the logistics of exhibition agreements, shipping and permits.

Reporting to the Senior Registrar, the Loans and Move Registrar works with the registration team to ensure that permanent collection objects entering and leaving the RBCM are carefully and appropriately managed and tracked, consistent with industry standards of care and conservation. The position is accountable for the maintenance and continuing integrity of a digitized, central information system for tracking object movement (S-Museum), and ensures accuracy of the data pertaining to the collections moving to the Provincial Archives, Research and Collections (PARC) Campus from the downtown museum and warehouses.

The Loans and Move Registrar is required to travel as necessary to meet operational requirements for the Royal BC Museum downtown Victoria location, PARC Campus Colwood location, and related facilities (e.g. warehouse locations). The position will support unpacking and moving collections with the PPM team when not assigned registration duties by the Senior Registrar.
