Description
The Team
The leadership team at the correctional centre supports the safe and effective operation of a 24/7 custodial environment. Working within BC Corrections' Adult Custody division, the team is responsible for balancing security, rehabilitation, operational requirements, and compliance while supporting positive outcomes for individuals in custody and collaboration with justice system partners.
The Role
Reporting to the Purchasing Officer, the Stockworker is responsible for maintaining inventory, receiving and distributing supplies, coordinating vehicle-related requirements, and ensuring accurate warehouse and asset records. The position supports purchasing and inventory control activities, monitors compliance with policies and WHMIS requirements, and may perform Purchasing Officer duties on an acting basis when required.
Qualifications:
Education and Experience Requirements
- Secondary school graduation or equivalent.
- Valid Class 5 driver’s licence.
- Experience with MS Word, Excel, and computer-based inventory control systems.
- Experience operating mobile equipment (i.e., forklift, pallet jack, hand cart).
- Experience regulating and controlling inventories.
Preference may be given to applicants with one (1) or more of the following:
- Minimum two years’ experience within a stores/purchasing environment that involved a distribution function.
- Post secondary courses in purchasing and stock control.
- Completion of the WHMIS course
Willingness Statements:
- Must be able to work in a correctional centre setting, with occasional interaction with inmates.
- Ability to lift up to 60 pounds and perform physically demanding work.
- Must be able to perform duties with minimal supervision.
