Job Overview
Reporting to an included supervisor or excluded manager and working in a variety of settings, the Authorizations Specialist - Land provides professional advice and may make decisions regarding the allocation of resources and adjudication of Land Act resource authorizations for the management of land in the Natural Resource Sector.
Qualifications:
Education and Experience Requirements:
- Bachelor’s Degree in the natural resource management field, plus two (2) years of related experience; OR,
- Diploma in the natural resource management field, plus three (3) years of related experience; OR,
- An equivalent combination of education and/or experience may also be considered.
- Must possess and maintain a valid BC Class 5 Driver’s Licence.
Related experience must include the following:
- Experience working in natural resource management.
- Experience in consulting, negotiating, and resolving conflicts with various partners in natural resource management.
Preference may be given to those with one (1) or more of the following:
- Experience performing technical duties and working with key statutes that support natural resource management (E.g. Land Act, Ministry of Lands Parks and Housing Act, Land Title Act).
- Experience in contract management.
Additional Requirements:
- Must be physically able to carry equipment and supplies in difficult terrain.
- May be required to operate field equipment (i.e., quad, snowmobile).

About this Position:
There are currently two (2) permanent, full-time positions and one (1) temporary, full-time position (for approximately six (6) months) available.
Each position may be based in one of the following locations: Clearwater, Kamloops, Merritt, Penticton or Vernon.
Flexible work options are available; this position may be able to work up to two (2) days at home per week subject to an approved Telework Agreement.
Employees of the BC Public Service must be located in BC at the time of employment.
An eligibility list may be established to fill future temporary and permanent vacancies in the above locations.
