Description
The Team
The Tax Appeals and Litigation Branch conducts impartial reviews of appeals related to assessments, denied refunds, and other decisions made under taxation and revenue statutes administered by the Ministry of Finance. The branch works with individuals, corporations, multinational companies, and their legal or financial representatives to ensure appeals are reviewed in accordance with applicable legislation. The team is responsible for determining the admissibility of appeals and supporting a fair and consistent review process.
The Role
The Intake Administrator receives, reviews, and validates incoming appeal submissions, ensuring required information is complete and accurate. This position communicates with clients to clarify case details, requests additional information when needed, and makes initial determinations or recommendations based on established legislation, policies, and procedures. The role also identifies inadmissible appeals, provides rationale for those decisions, and directs clients to the appropriate programs or services when required.
Qualifications:
Education and Experience Requirements
- Certificate or coursework in a related field and 6 months related experience; or
- Secondary School graduation (Dogwood, GED) and 1-year related experience; or
- Evergreen and 2 years related experience; or
- An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
Related Experience may include
- Experience with word processing and database applications.
- Experience providing client or customer service.
- Experience applying legislation and regulations.
