Description

Job Overview
Reporting to the Director of Partnerships and Strategic Engagement, the Manager of Communications and Engagement leads the development and implementation of the BC Wildfire Service communications and engagement strategies that connect staff to the vision, mission and goals of BC Wildfire Service, and to connect the public, stakeholders and communities to BC Wildfire Service through a communications and engagement strategy. This role provides expertise and support to all programs in BC Wildfire Service with internal and external communications to ensure a consistent cascade of messaging and engagement activities to communicate goals and deliverables, organizational goals, progress on the ministry’s strategic agenda, and other corporate initiatives.

Qualifications:
Education and Experience Requirements

  • Related college/university degree in a relevant discipline and a minimum three years recent progressively responsible related experience – or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum of two years experience in the leadership and supervision of staff, including developing and evaluating performance goals, coaching, team building, and managing resources.
  • A minimum of three years experience developing and implementing communications plans and tactics for a diverse audience.
  • A minimum of three years experience providing communications advice and expertise to the senior leadership of an organization.
  • A minimum of three years experience establishing and maintaining working relationships with a diverse group of stakeholders.

Preference may be given for:

  • Experience working in a public relations, corporate communications, or media relations environment.
  • Experience with planning and executing events for large groups.
  • Experience working with Indigenous organizations and/or communities.
  • Experience working in emergency management

About this Position:
There is 1 full time position available that can be performed from Kamloops or Victoria.
Flexible work options are available; this position may be able to work from home a few days a week subject to an approved telework agreement.
An eligibility list may be established for future temporary or permanent opportunities.
A Criminal Record Check (CRC) will be required.
Employees of the BC Public Service must be located in BC at the time of employment.
This position is excluded from union membership.
