Description

The Team
The primary function of the district is to ensure the safe and efficient movement of goods, services, and people in each geographical area. The district administers the highways maintenance agreements, portions of the rehabilitation program, development approvals and support for the provincial capital program. The operations of each district support the growth and development of the provincial economy. District operations are the direct link between the ministry and the public/stakeholders providing a key transportation link in a multi-model environment.

The Role 
Reporting to the District Manager, the District Services Manager manages all district budgeting, financial reporting, HR and administrative functions within the District. The position also co-manages the district program budgets. Working in a dynamic and emerging environment with limited resources, provides expert advice on the management of emerging and controversial issues to the District Manager, and uses influence and persuasion to ensure best management practices are adopted and utilized. The position supervises Finance and Administrative staff and is accountable for issues management, program delivery, facilities, information systems, service planning, reporting and performance measurement, Hired Equipment, records management and providing administrative support to the district.

Qualifications:
Education and Experience Requirements

  • Degree or diploma in business administration, financial management or public administration or an equivalent combination of related training and experience may be considered;
  • Minimum of one year in a senior administrative or coordination role with two or more of the following experience:
    • Experience in program management such as budget management.
    • Experience in financial management and contract management.
    • Experience in Human Resources management.
    • Experience working productively and cooperatively with internal and external stakeholders.

Preference may be given to applicants with one or more of the following:

  • Experience in the Ministry of Transportation and Transit.
  • Applicants with supervisory experience.
  • Applicants with a degree in business administration, financial management or public administration.

This is a temporary opportunity until November 27, 2026. This position may be extended or become permanent.
