This is a restricted lateral posting open to employees who hold a BAND 4 base position

Job Overview
The Director, Core Policy provides leadership, expertise and support for the development, modernization and implementation of government’s Core Policy, legislative frameworks and their related financial management activities. The Director develops the branch’s business plan, maintains the branch’s internal policies and procedures and leads cross-government and division initiatives. 

Qualifications:
Education and Experience Requirements

  • A professional accounting designation in good standing plus four years of related experience. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered. 

Related experience includes each the following: 

  • Experience providing strategic direction on the development, application and implementation of financial management policies and procedures within a large and complex organization. 
  • Experience providing expert professional advice, recommendations and support on the interpretation of corporate policies and procedures to senior management and executives. 
  • Experience prioritizing and managing multiple projects, teams and tasks with changing priorities and evolving issues.
  • Experience leading and managing a team of professionals in a virtual environment. 

Preference may be given to those with:

  • A Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) designation in good standing within British Columbia.
  • More years of recent related experience in financial management policies to senior government and/or public sector officials. 
  • Direct CPPM and/or Treasury Board policy or directives experience. 
  • Experience leading accounting professionals.

This position can be based out of any of the location(s) listed above.
Flexible work options are available; this position may be able to work up to 4 days at home per week subject to an approved telework agreement.
This position is excluded from union membership.
