Job Overview
The Ministry of Children and Family Development’s primary focus is to support all children and youth in British Columbia to live in safe, healthy, and nurturing families and be strongly connected to their communities and culture. The ministry delivers the majority of its services locally through contracted social services agencies as well as through centrally administered provincial programs.
Sector Initiatives and Analysis is a team inside of the Procurement Branch of the ministry. It provides leadership, strategic policy advice and decision support for initiatives and issues in the contracted social services sector. This supports the Ministry’s agenda and ensures any Ministry commitments arising from the collective bargaining process are met in a timely and effective manner.
Reporting to the Director, Sector Initiatives and Analysis (SIA), the Project Assistant supports and coordinates various activities for the team. Including, but not limited to research, analysis, engagement, secretariat work, development and implementation of procurement and contract management policies and practices to support the strategic priorities and legislation for ministry programs.
This position ensures compliance with legislation, core government policies and procedures and central agency requirements. In addition, this position prepares briefing notes, standard operating procedures and management reports on procurement and contract management practices.
Qualifications:
Education and Experience Requirements
- Secondary school graduation or equivalent and completion of courses in project management or business administration.
- One (1) or more years of experience providing project management support services.
- One (1) or more years of experience using standard computer applications such as Microsoft Word, Outlook, and Excel etc.
Preference may be given to applicants:
- With more years of experience.

Flexible work options are available; this position may be able to work from home a few days a week subject to an approved telework agreement
This is a temporary opportunity until September 30,2027.
This appointment may be extended or made permanent.
