The Team
The Indigenous Youth Internship Program (IYIP) is an established team dedicated to advancing the recruitment, retention, representation, and career development of Indigenous youth through meaningful career opportunities, leadership development, and relationship-building between Indigenous communities and the provincial government. The team consists of four members, including the Program Lead, Cultural Liaison, Program Manager, and Program Coordinator, and works closely with approximately 25 interns, their people leaders, and mentors. Team members value the supportive environment, the opportunity to work with inspiring people, and the rewarding impact of helping Indigenous youth build successful careers while contributing to reconciliation and closing social and economic gaps in British Columbia.

The Role
The Program Administrator plays a key role in coordinating the administrative and operational delivery of the Indigenous Youth Internship Program, providing support in areas such as recruitment, communications, finance, records management, and event planning to ensure the program’s success. Qualifications:
Due to nature of the program and in accordance with Section 42 of the BC Human Rights Code, only people of Indigenous identity (First Nations, Métis, or Inuit) will be considered.

Education and Experience
     • Post-secondary education or training related to this position. This could include, but is not limited to, areas such as Indigenous Studies, office administration, business administration, human resources, or finance. AND
     • Minimum one (1) year experience providing administrative support in an office environment obtained in a work, volunteer or community setting*; OR
     • An equivalent combination of education, training and experience may be considered.

*Related Experience Must Include All of the Following:
     • Knowledge and experience working with Microsoft applications such as Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
     • Organizing aspects of training delivery, programs, and/or events coordination.
     • Implementing procedures for effective records management and tracking systems.
     • Knowledge and experience working with eApprovals and similar workflow systems

Preference may be given to applicants with the required education and experience and:
     • Two (2) or more years of related experience.

About this Position:
This is a temporary opportunity until March 31, 2027. This position may be extended or become permanent.
