The Team
CFD is committed to providing coordinated, ongoing child and youth mental health services in Tumbler Ridge and other rural and remote Northern communities. Recognizing the unique needs of Tumbler Ridge and surrounding communities, after the tragedy on February 11, 2026, CFD has established dedicated local operations (providing in-person, virtual and outreach) to ensure children, youth, and families have consistent access to responsive, integrated supports.
The team works collaboratively with community partners including Foundry, Northern Health Authority and School District 59 to deliver services that are timely, relationship‑based, and grounded in the needs of the community.

The Role
Reporting within the Child and Youth Mental Health (CYMH) Provincial Services Branch and the Provincial Deaf and Hard of Hearing Branch, the Provincial Tumbler Ridge Response and Recovery Operations Team Leader provides clinical leadership, supervision, and operational oversight for a team delivering mental health services to children, youth, and families in Tumbler Ridge and other Northern BC communities. The role is responsible for the operations of high-quality, trauma-informed service delivery, including intake, assessment, treatment, suicide risk assessment, safety planning, family support, and crisis intervention for children and youth from birth to age 18. Working closely with clinicians, local CYMH teams, community service providers, and key partners such as Foundry, Northern Health, and School District 59, the Team Leader fosters strong collaborative relationships and advances integrated, community-based mental health services.
Qualifications:
Education and Experience Requirements
- Master’s Degree in Social Work (Clinical Specialty or equivalent training/education), Educational Counselling, Clinical Psychology, Child and Youth Care, or equivalent.
- NOTE: If this education was obtained outside of Canada, you need to confirm it has been assessed for equivalency through the International Credential Evaluation Services (ICES). You must provide a basic report by the closing date of this posting to be considered.
- At least 4 years direct clinical experience in the provision of mental health services to children, youth and their families in a mental health setting.
- At least 3 years of supervisory experience, including a minimum of six months of recent (within the last year) supervising a community-based CYMH team.
Additional Requirement:
- Must possess and maintain a valid Class 5 BC Driver’s License with no restriction or equivalent (i.e., from another Canadian Province).
Preference may be given to applicants with the following:
- More than 4 years direct clinical experience in the provision of mental health services to children, youth and their families in a mental health setting.
- More than 3 years of supervisory experience, including more than six months of recent experience (within the past year) supervising a community-based CYMH team.
- Experience developing, implementing, monitoring and/or evaluating new projects and initiatives.
- Recent experience (in the last 2 years) managing and supervising geographically dispersed and multi-disciplinary staff remotely.
- Recent experience (within the last year) supervising in rural, remote and/or hard to recruit communities.
- Applicants who have been regularly deployed to Tumbler Ridge as a part of the Provincial CYMH Tumbler Ridge Response and Recovery Operations.
- Applicants who self-identify as First Nations, Métis or Inuit with the required combination of education and experience.

About this Position:
This is a temporary opportunity until July 31, 2027, with the possibility of extension and/or the position becoming permanent.
Flexible work options are available, this position may be able to work up to one or more days at home per week subject to an approved telework agreement.
This position is being posted provincially, meaning it can be located anywhere in BC.
