The Team
The Child and Youth Mental Health (CYMH) Parksville team is a collaborative and supportive group of experienced professionals dedicated to helping children, youth, and families achieve positive mental health outcomes. Working alongside a Team Leader and skilled clinical staff, the team values inclusivity, respect, and diverse perspectives, creating a welcoming environment where everyone can contribute and grow. Through strong partnerships with community agencies, schools, health professionals, and service providers, the team delivers client-centered services that make a meaningful difference for families across the region.
The Role
As a Mental Health Support Worker, you will work closely with Child and Youth Mental Health clinicians to provide practical support, education, and interventions that help children, youth, and families achieve their mental health goals. In this role, you will build trusting relationships, support skill development, connect families with community resources, and contribute to a welcoming and inclusive environment where diverse experiences and needs are respected. This position is ideal for someone who is compassionate, adaptable, and motivated to make a meaningful difference, offering the opportunity to support positive outcomes for vulnerable children and families while working alongside a highly collaborative and supportive team.
Qualifications:
Education and Experience Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Psychology or Child and Youth Care, or equivalent field of study.
Related Experience may include
- Experience working in child and youth mental health services.
Preference may be given to candidates who:
- Possess direct experience working with individuals experiencing mental health challenges, including crisis intervention, emotional support, or service coordination.
Willingness statements or provisos:
- Exposure to regular travel in remote locations.
- May be required to use own vehicle on an expense account
Other Requirements:
- Opportunity to work with families facing challenges which may occasionally involve exposure to unpleasant dealings with angry, abusive, or abused clients; exposure to hazards from frequently working around volatile parents and/or children in crisis.

About this Position:
Flexible work options are available; this position may be able to work up to 2 days at home per week subject to an approved telework agreement.
An eligibility list may be established to fill future temporary and permanent vacancies.
