The Team
The Permitting Transformation Division within FrontCounter BC works with colleagues to support fair, accessible, and consistent permitting services. The team values collaboration, respectful relationships, and diverse perspectives.

The Role
As a Natural Resource Specialist, you’ll assess complex natural resource applications, provide guidance to applicants, and coordinate information from multiple sources to support sound decisions.

Qualifications:
Education and Experience Requirements

  • Bachelors Degree in a natural resource management related field and two (2) years of related experience; OR
  • Technical Diploma in a natural resource management related field and four (4) years related experience; OR
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
  • Must possess and maintain a BC Class 5 Driver’s Licence.

Related Experience must include all of the following:

  • Experience working in a resource management related field.
  • Experience interpreting and applying natural resource related policy and/or legislation.
  • Experience processing land and water applications.

Preference may be given to applicants with the following:

  • Experience supervising and/or providing functional supervision to staff.
  • Experience using ArcGIS Pro.

Willingness statements 

  • Willing and able to do field work and to travel using aircraft, car and boat, sometimes in adverse weather conditions and alone in remote areas.

About this Position:

Amendment (August 14th): There are 2 positions available.
Flexible work options are available; this position may be able to work up to 2 days at home per week subject to an approved telework agreement.
This is a temporary opportunity until September 30, 2027. This position may be extended or become permanent.
An eligibility list may be established to fill future temporary and permanent vacancies.
A Criminal Record Check (CRC) will be required.
Employees of the BC Public Service must be located in BC at the time of employment.
