The Team
The Okanagan West Kootenay Excluded Management Team provides leadership for child and family services across diverse urban, rural, and Indigenous communities, helping improve outcomes for children, youth, and families. As Director of Operations, you will join an experienced and collaborative leadership team that works closely with internal and community partners to deliver inclusive, culturally responsive services while strengthening relationships across the region. This team values diverse perspectives, supports one another through complex challenges, and remains committed to service excellence and continuous improvement.
The Role
As Director of Operations, you will lead integrated services that support children, youth, and families, overseeing program delivery, service quality, budgets, contracts, and multidisciplinary teams across the region. In this role, you will shape responsive and culturally informed services, build strong partnerships with Indigenous communities and community organizations, and help ensure children, youth, and families receive the support they need to thrive. You will join a collaborative leadership team that values diverse perspectives, supports continuous improvement, and is committed to making a meaningful difference in the lives of vulnerable children and families.
Qualifications:
Education and Experience Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Social Work or Child and Youth Care, or Master's degree in Clinical Psychology, Educational Counselling Psychology, Social Work, or equivalent; OR
- In-service Ministry of Children and Family Development employees who have a regular full working level SPO 24-30 base position that requires delegation under the Child, Family and Community Services Act (CFCSA).
- A minimum of two (2) years' experience leading and supervising a team within a human services, social services, or clinical setting.
- Experience managing operations, budgets, and contracts within a human services, social services, or clinical environment.
- Experience leading hiring and human resource processes, including recruitment, performance management, and labour relations.
- Have, or be eligible to obtain partial MCFD delegation at a C 3 or higher under the Child, Family and Community Service Act.
NOTE: If your degree was obtained outside of Canada, you need to confirm it has been assessed for equivalency through the International Credential Evaluation Services (ICES). You must request a comprehensive report and the MCFD supplemental report to be considered for this competition.

About this Position:
There is one temporary opportunity until 12/31/2026 based out of Vernon or Kelowna. This position may be extended or become permanent.
An eligibility list may be established to fill future temporary and permanent vacancies in Vernon, Kelowna, Penticton, Nelson and Trail.
Flexible work options are available; this position may be able to work up to 3 days at home per week subject to an approved telework agreement.
A Criminal Record Check (CRC) and Criminal Record Review Act Check (CRRA) will be required.
This position is excluded from union membership.
