Job Overview
The Commercial Vehicle Safety and Enforcement (CVSE) program regulates and manages commercial vehicle activities on the provincial highway network and aligns requirements with neighbouring provinces to ensure the safe and efficient movement of goods within B.C. and beyond. CVSE directs programs and provides information that affects commercial and private vehicle safety, in accordance with Provincial government regulations and policy, as well as national and international standards. The Vehicle Inspection & Standards Program encompasses all types of highway vehicles – both private and commercial – and is dedicated to improving vehicle and road safety in B.C. Through the application of the British Columbia Motor Vehicle Act, Motor Vehicle Act Regulations, Vehicle Inspection Manual and Canadian vehicle manufacturing standards, CVSE strives to have only the safest and most roadworthy highway vehicles operating on B.C's highways.

Qualifications:
Education and Experience Requirements

  • Grade 12 graduation or equivalent.
  • Experience using word processing and database applications.
  • 6 months experience providing client service in an adversarial environment.

Preference may be given to applicants with the following:

  • Experience applying CVSE legislation and regulations.
  • Commercial Vehicle Safety and Enforcement experience.
  • Experience reviewing and/or processing applications.
  • Experience providing client service over the phone and/or responding to public inquiries.

About this Position:
This position can be based in any Ministry of Transportation and Transit office. The locations listed above are to assist applicants in searching for this opportunity and are not a complete list of locations.
An eligibility list may be established to fill future temporary and permanent vacancies.
Flexible work options are available; this position may be able to work up to 5 days at home per week subject to an approved telework agreement.
This is a temporary opportunity until July 3, 2027. This position may be extended or become permanent.
Depending on the successful candidate’s location, a bi-weekly isolation allowance may apply.
A Criminal Record Check (CRC) will be required.
Employees of the BC Public Service must be located in BC at the time of employment.
