Job Overview
The Team lead - Accounting Services supervises the Ministry’s accounting systems (accounts payable/accounts receivable); develop, implement and maintain ministry specific account processing procedures; and ensure the integrity and maintenance of related financial records.

Qualifications:
Education and Experience Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business/Public Administration, Finance, Accounting or a related discipline and related experience; OR, 
  • Diploma in Business/Public Administration, Finance, Accounting or a related discipline, and two (2) years of related experience; OR,
  • Certificate in Business/Public Administration, Finance, Accounting or a related discipline, and three (3) years of related experience OR,
  • An equivalent combination of education and related experience may be considered.

Related experience must include all of the following:

  • Experience working as a supervisor 
  • Experience working with financial accounting systems, procedures and internal controls.
  • Experience creating financial forecasts, which include year-to-date and month-over-month variances.
  • Experience composing financial statements and reports and working budget reconciliations.
  • Experience analyzing financial/accounting statements and recommending remedial actions supported by your analysis.
  • Experience developing, implementing and interpreting financial policies and procedures.
  • Experience supporting clients, including being responsive to multiple forms of communication, and presenting financial information in plain language for audiences with varied technical specialties.
  • Experience in supporting budget evaluation processes for multiple business areas. 
  • Minimum one (1) year of experience using Microsoft Excel at an intermediate level (includes working with large sets of data, formulas, multiple worksheets, finding and replacing data, sub-totaling, sorting, filtering, setting up data validation, creating pivot tables and charts, data imports and working with text data). 

Preference may be given to candidates with:

  • Two (2) or more years of experience in any of the above related experience requirements.

About this Position:
Flexible work options are available; this position may be able to work 2 or more days at home per week subject to an approved telework agreement.
