The Team
FrontCounter BC is a client-centric organization that provides a single-window service for natural resource ministry clients. FrontCounter BC helps individuals and businesses learn about and apply for different licences, permits, and other authorizations required to utilize British Columbia’s Natural Resources. 
The FrontCounter BC team within the Ministry of Water, Land and Resource Stewardship – Permitting Transformation Division is a dynamic and supportive group dedicated to helping clients navigate the permitting process required to utilize British Columbia’s Natural Resources. As a Natural Resource Specialist, you’ll be part of an established team that operates as a one-stop shop for applications across multiple provincial agencies, including Land, Water, and other resource related activities. With offices ranging from nine to twenty staff members, the team thrives on camaraderie and mutual support, working closely with colleagues from other ministries to streamline applications and provide exceptional service to clients.

The Role
The Natural Resource Specialist provides front line service, based on general knowledge of various Natural Resource Agency and other agency’s legislation, regulations, policies and procedures, to clients of the provincial government’s natural resource agencies.  Evaluates submitted applications and prepares the application report package for further review and decision.

Qualifications:
Education and Experience Requirements

  • A Bachelors Degree in a natural resource management related field and a minimum of one (1) year related experience in a resource management related field etc., OR
  • A Technical Diploma in a natural resource management related field and three (3) years of related experience, OR
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
  • Valid British Columbia Class 5 Drivers Licence or equivalent.

Related Experience must include all of the following:

  • Experience working in a resource management related field.
  • Experience interpreting and applying natural resource related policy and/or legislation.

About this Position:
Flexible work options are available; this position may be able to work up to 2 at home per week subject to an approved telework agreement.
An eligibility list may be established to fill future temporary and/or permanent vacancies.
