The Team
The BC Wildfire Service (BCWS) is the Province’s specialized wildfire management and emergency response organization, responsible for preventing, managing, and suppressing wildfires while protecting life, property, and other values at risk. Its workforce brings together approximately 1,600 field-based technical, operational, and strategic professionals who support effective wildfire response and contribute to sustainable, healthy, and resilient ecosystems.
The Role
The Project Management Analyst supports BCWS modernization by leading projects and advancing digital platforms that improve wildfire management processes and information systems. The role coordinates projects from planning through implementation, translates operational needs into actionable requirements and priorities, evaluates options and risks, and works with business partners, technical teams, contractors, and project resources to deliver initiatives on time, within budget, and to expected quality standards. A key focus is supporting major transformation initiatives such as the Wildfire One project through requirements refinement, backlog and sprint prioritization, business transformation, and communication planning.
Qualifications
Education and Experience Requirements
• Master’s degree or higher and 6 months of related experience
• Bachelor’s Degree and 1 year of related experience; OR
• Diploma and 2 years related experience; OR
• Certificate or coursework and 3 years related experience; OR
• An equivalent combination of education and related experience* may be considered.
*Related Experience includes:
• Experience managing projects and/or project components.
• Experience directing the work of contracted and staff resources.
Preference may be given to candidates with any of the following:
• Experience in BC Wildfire Service.
• 2 or more years of IT software development process and/or AGILE project management experience.
• Experience facilitating requirement sessions and sprint reviews between operational end-users and technical development teams.
• Experience refining digital product backlogs, writing user stories, and managing sprint prioritization.
