Job Category: Administrative Services

Classification: Administrative Officer R18
Description
The Team
The Public Guardian and Trustee (PGT) is here to help citizens who may be incapable, are under the age of 19 or who are deceased.
The Public Guardian and Trustee (PGT) has the mandate to:
- Protect the legal and financial interests of children under the age of 19 years
- Protect the legal, financial, personal and health care interests of adults who need help with decision-making
- Administer estates of deceased persons and missing persons
The PGT is a corporation sole which is a legal structure with one person responsible for overall service delivery instead of a board of directors. That person is called the Public Guardian and Trustee. The PGT is independent of government when making decisions on behalf of clients. We are an inclusive organization that seeks to provide culturally safe and respectful services to each client. We are committed to creating a meaningful workplace culture that pursues truth and reconciliation. We put clients first when making decisions and act with the highest ethical, legal and personal standards. We value collaboration with clients, colleagues and partners and believe in the importance of relationships to achieve positive outcomes for clients.
The Estate Liaison Team within the Services to Adults Division consists of 10 staff members, including six Estate Liaison Officers, two Estate Liaison Financial Officers, and two Estate Liaison Administrative Assistants. The team works closely with other departments across the organization to deliver critical services on behalf of clients while continuing to safeguard their financial and legal interests. As the team becomes involved at the final stage of a client's file within the PGT, it has a unique perspective on client journeys and organizational processes. This position enables team members to identify opportunities for improvement, enhance service delivery, and contribute to broader organizational efficiencies.
The Role
The Estate Liaison Officer supports vulnerable adults and their families by managing the transition of assets and responsibilities when the Public Guardian and Trustee's (PGT) authority ends, most commonly following a client's death. The role safeguards estate assets, ensures compliance with legislative requirements, and provides compassionate guidance to families while coordinating with stakeholders to facilitate smooth estate transfers. Through this work, Estate Liaison Officers make a meaningful impact by supporting vulnerable populations during significant life transitions within a collaborative, client-centered environment. If you are seeking meaningful work, professional growth, and the opportunity to make a lasting impact on clients, families, and the organization, the Estate Liaison Officer role offers a truly rewarding career opportunity.
