The Team
The Peace Natural Resource District brings together different areas of expertise to support responsible natural resource management. The team works with First Nations, government partners, stakeholders, and resource users, with a focus on respectful relationships, meaningful participation, and fair and informed decision-making.
The Role
As a Licensed Authorizations Officer, you’ll assess resource applications and plans, provide professional advice, and make decisions that balance resource use with environmental, community, and other interests. You’ll also lead projects, consultation and conflict resolution processes, and support staff and decision-makers by ensuring diverse perspectives and relevant information are considered.
Qualifications:
Education and Experience Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Forestry, Natural Resource Management and one (1) year of related experience; OR
- An equivalent combination of education and experience as recognized by FPBC.
- Valid BC Class 5 Driver’s Licence or equivalent.
Related Experience must include all of the following:
- Experience working in natural resource management.
- Experience performing technical duties and working with key statutes that support natural resource management.
- Experience in consulting, negotiating and resolving conflicts with partners and stakeholders in natural resource management.
Professional Registration and Certification Requirements:
- Registered, or immediately eligible for registration, with Forest Professionals British Columbia (FPBC) as a Registered Professional Forester (RPF).
- Applicants who are registered (or immediately eligible for registration) as a Forester in Training or Allied Science Forester in Training may be considered at a lower classification. Confirmation of registration/eligibility will be required before an offer of employment can be made.
- Note: “Immediately eligible for registration” means meeting all requirements for full professional registration and completing the registration process with the relevant BC professional association within six (6) months of employment.
Preference may be given to those with one (1) or more of the following:
- Experience in forest revenue, appraisals, issuance of tenures on Crown land or other functions related to forest management.
- Experience working with Forestry Licence to Cuts, Occupant Licence to Cuts, and Special Use Permits.
Willingness Statements:
- Willingness to conduct field work which may include travel to remote areas by vehicle, boat, air or foot, overnight or extended stay in rough camp conditions and outdoor work in all weather conditions.
Provisos:
- Must be physically able to carry equipment and supplies in difficult terrain.
- May be required to operate field equipment (i.e.: quad, snowmobile).

About this Position:
Flexible work options are available; this position may be able to work up to 2 days at home per week subject to an approved telework agreement.
This position can be based out of any of the location(s) listed above.
