Job Overview
The position provides leadership, expert advice and technical support to the Ministry of Forests (FOR) staff, other ministries, agencies and the public who rely on silviculture data and related business applications to inform operational planning, decision making and supports excellence in forest management. The position is also responsible for ensuring data integrity and system functionality, business process and systems improvements, client onboarding and for the associated administration of legal documents.

Qualifications:
Education and Experience Requirements:

• Master’s Degree in Forestry, Natural Resource Management, or a related field, and at least three (3) years of recent (within the last ten (10) years), related experience; OR,
• Bachelor’s Degree in Forestry, Natural Resource Management, or a related field, and five (5) years of recent (within the last ten (10) years), related experience; OR,
• An equivalent combination of related education, training, and experience (e.g., forestry technical diploma plus at least seven (7) years of recent (within the last ten (10) years), directly related experience).

Recent (within the last ten (10) years), related experience must include each of the following:

• Experience in operational silviculture.
• Experience data management systems and associated applications.
• Experience in project management and contract development.

Professional Registration and Certification Requirements:

• Registered, or immediately eligible for registration, as a Registered Professional Forester (RPF) in BC with Forest Professionals BC (FPBC). Note: “Immediately eligible for registration” means meeting all requirements for full professional registration and completing the process of obtaining full registration with the relevant BC professional association within six (6) months of employment.

Preference may be given for one (1) or more of the following:

• Experience using GIS and carrying out spatial analysis.
• Experience using RESULTS data for silviculture and statistical analysis.
• Supervisory experience.

About this Position:
There is currently one (1) temporary, full-time position available for approximately 12 months.
This may be extended or become a permanent position.
This position can be based in any Ministry of Forests’ office. The locations listed above are to assist applicants in searching for this opportunity and are not a complete list of locations.
Depending on the successful candidate’s location, a bi-weekly isolation allowance may apply.
Flexible work options are available; this position may be able to work up to two (2) days at home per week subject to an approved Telework Agreement.
Employees of the BC Public Service must be located in BC at the time of employment.
An eligibility list may be established to fill future temporary and permanent vacancies.
Applicants who do not fully meet the required qualifications may be considered for this position, but at a lower classification.
A Criminal Record Check (CRC) will be required.
