Description

The Team
The Assistant Deputy Minister's Office (ADMO) supports the newly established Strategic Alignment and Integration Division. The Division leads social services engagement and cross-government initiatives to assess and improve how social services are coordinated and delivered across British Columbia. Working with ministries, Indigenous partners, service providers, community organizations, labour representatives, and people with lived experience, the Division identifies opportunities to strengthen service integration, reduce barriers, and improve outcomes for people accessing services. The ADMO plays a key role in supporting the Division's operations and ensuring the Assistant Deputy Minister (ADM) and senior leadership team are equipped to advance this mandate effectively.

The Role
The Manager, Division Operations is instrumental in supporting the effective operation of the division. As the primary lead for divisional operations, this position is responsible for coordinating service planning, managing issues and correspondence, leading operational and strategic projects, overseeing financial and administrative processes, and supporting executive communications. The Manager facilitates the flow of information across the Division and with partner ministries, provides advice and support to the Assistant Deputy Minister and senior leadership team. Through strong coordination and relationship management, the position helps ensure the Division can successfully advance its mandate and priorities.

Qualifications:
Education and Experience Requirements

  • Degree in Business Administration, Public Administration, Human Resources, Communications, Operations Management, Project Management, or a related field.
  • A minimum of one (1) year experience in each of the following:
    • Providing executive-level operational, administrative, and strategic support to senior leadership in the BC Public Service.
    • Overseeing divisional operations, executive services, or strategic planning functions, including coordinating financial, human resources, and administrative activities.
    • Managing competing priorities, tight deadlines, and emerging issues in a fast-paced environment.
    • Handling highly confidential, sensitive, and politically complex matters with discretion and sound judgment.
    • Leading cross-functional projects, working groups, committees, or governance initiatives from planning through implementation and evaluation.
    • Preparing, analyzing, and presenting briefing materials, reports, business cases, recommendations, and other decision-support materials for senior executives.
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.


Preference may be given to applicants with:

  • Experience working in a senior executive office within the BC Public Service or supporting a Deputy Minister, Assistant Deputy Minister, or equivalent executive.
  • Experience interpreting policies, procedures, and business processes, and providing advice and recommendations to management.
  • Experience supervising staff in the BC Public Service.

About this Position:
Flexible work options are available; this position may be able to work from home a few days a week subject to an approved telework agreement.
