The Team:
The Campbell River Natural Resource District team works at the intersection of stewardship, sustainable resource management, and community priorities across some of British Columbia's most ecologically and culturally significant landscapes. From forest landscape planning and old growth stewardship to biodiversity conservation and land use decision-making, the team tackles complex natural resource challenges through collaboration with First Nations, local communities, industry, and partner agencies. It's a supportive and highly skilled group where strategic thinking, technical expertise, and relationship-building come together to help shape the future of Vancouver Island's forests and natural resources.

The Role:
As a Land and Resource Specialist, you’ll play a key role in advancing natural resource stewardship across the Campbell River Natural Resource District. From supporting forest landscape planning and old growth initiatives to developing resource management objectives, standards, and strategic plans, this role helps shape how land and resource decisions are made. Working closely with First Nations, partners, stakeholders, and senior decision-makers, you'll lead complex projects that balance environmental, social, cultural, and economic priorities while delivering meaningful outcomes on the ground.

Qualifications:
Education and Experience Requirements:

• Bachelor’s Degree or higher in a natural resource management related field AND a minimum of three (3) years of experience working in a natural resource discipline; OR
• Technical Diploma in a natural resource management related field (e.g., Forestry, Geography, or Natural Resource Management) AND a minimum of five (5) years of experience working in a natural resource discipline; OR
• An equivalent combination of education and seven (7) years of related experience may be considered.

Related Experience includes each of the following:

• Recent (within the last five (5) years) experience working in natural resource management in a direct, matrix or project management environment.
• Recent (within the last three (3) years) experience in a multiple stakeholders and partners environment understanding perspectives, conflicts and facilitating/developing solutions. 
• Recent (within the last three (3) years) experience related to First Nations consultation, collaboration and/or relationship building with Indigenous communities in British Columbia.

Preference may be given to those with one (1) or both of the following:

• Experience with geospatial analysis and data.
• Recent (within the last five (5) years) experience managing technical and/or professional staff in natural resource management in a direct, matrix or project management environment. 

Additional Requirements:

• Must possess or be willing and able to immediately obtain (within six (6) months of employment) a valid BC Class 5 Driver’s Licence or equivalent.
• To be flexible regarding ongoing changes in responsibilities, assignments and corporate structures.
• To keep current on emerging issues.
• To take in-house training and certification as required.
• To fly in aircraft (fixed wing and rotary) as required.
• To travel and overnight in remote locations where accommodations may vary as required.

About this Position:
There is currently one (1) permanent, full time position available in Campbell River.
Flexible work options are available; this position may be able to work up to two (2) days at home per week subject to an approved Telework Agreement.
Employees of the BC Public Service must be located in BC at the time of employment.
An eligibility list may be established to fill future temporary and permanent vacancies in Campbell River.
