The Team
The Product Distribution Centre (PDC) Purchasing Team is an established team of 12 dedicated professionals who work together to ensure essential medical, pharmaceutical, personal care, and other critical products reach government programs, public sector organizations, and the people who rely on them across British Columbia. In this role, you will collaborate with Purchasing and Supply Chain Supervisors, Buyers, Customer Service Account Managers, Warehouse staff, and other supply chain professionals in a respectful, inclusive, and supportive environment where diverse perspectives are valued. Together, the team manages the procurement and supply of approximately $50 million in goods annually, helping ensure regulatory compliance, responsible purchasing practices, and reliable access to products that support the health, independence, and quality of life of British Columbians.

The Role
As a Procurement and Contract Officer, you will play a key role in supporting the PDC Purchasing Team's mandate by leading procurement activities, developing and administering contracts, and building strong supplier relationships to ensure critical products and services are available when they are needed most. Working collaboratively with clients, suppliers, and cross-functional teams, you will manage procurement projects, analyze risks and data, support regulatory compliance, and help address complex supply chain challenges in an inclusive environment where diverse perspectives and experiences are valued. Qualifications:
Education and Experience Requirements

  • Certificate or higher in Supply Chain Management or Procurement and Contract Management program, AND a minimum of 2 years recent experience; or
  • Secondary School Diploma or equivalent (GED), AND a minimum of 5 years recent experience.

Recent experience (within last 5 years) must include a minimum of 2 years in ALL of the following:

  • Purchasing in a supply chain management position as well as procurement and contract management.
  • Logistics, inventory management in a purchasing department within a wholesale or retail distribution organization/warehouse environment.
  • Experience using Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) Systems e.g. SAP.
  • Experience typing, formatting and editing a variety of documents and materials using desktop tools such as Word, Excel and Outlook.

Preference may be given to applicants that have one (1) or more of the following:

  • Experience in performing supply chain analysis and risk assessment to determine options and make recommendations.
  • Experience in procuring Health Canada licensed medical devices and products.

About this Position:
This position is based in Coquitlam.
Flexible work options are available; this position may be able to work up to 4 days at home per week subject to an approved telework agreement.
