Description

The Team
The Emergency Management and Climate Readiness (EMCR) team plays a critical role in supporting British Columbians before, during, and after emergencies and disasters. Working collaboratively with local governments, First Nations, provincial and federal partners, industry, and volunteer organizations, the team helps strengthen community resilience while protecting people, infrastructure, property, and the environment across the province.

The Role
As a Financial Analyst, you will provide specialized financial support for disaster response and recovery programs, with a focus on federal and provincial cost-recovery initiatives. You will help ensure financial integrity and audit readiness by reviewing and documenting claims, advising on financial policies and controls, and collaborating with internal and external partners to support accurate reporting, compliance, and continuous process improvement in a high-volume recovery environment.

Qualifications:
Education and Experience Requirements

  • Diploma in business administration, public administration, or finance, and a minimum of two (2) years related experience, OR
  • An equivalent combination of education, training and experience may be considered.


Related experience must include:

  • Two (2) years experience working with financial accounting systems, procedures and internal controls.
  • Two (2) years experience interpreting and providing advice on financial policies/procedures.
  • Two (2) years experience implementing and maintaining financial processes/procedures.
  • Two (2) years experience tracking, analyzing and reporting financial forecasts.


Preference may be given for:

  • Minimum of one (1) year supervisory work experience including assignment of work, development and evaluation of performance.
  • Minimum of one (1) year experience in financial forecasting and tracking of event related expenditures.
  • Experience in auditing, or in compliance review and monitoring.


Candidates must be able and willing to: 

  • Work on-call and extended hours during emergencies and disasters. 
  • Travel to other regions.

This position can be based out of any of the location(s) listed above.
Flexible work options are available; this position may be able to work 5 days at home per week subject to an approved telework agreement.
