The Team

The Business Risk Management (BRM) Branch delivers programs that help British Columbia’s agricultural producers manage risk and build resilience in the face of production and market uncertainty. Working collaboratively with producers, industry stakeholders, and government partners, the team administers insurance, compensation, and stabilization programs that support a strong and sustainable agri-food sector.
 

The Role

The Program Representative, Claims plays a key role in supporting the delivery of BRM programs through claims investigation, adjudication, and client service. This position works directly with agricultural producers to assess claims, provide program guidance, and ensure fair, accurate, and timely decisions while contributing to the integrity and effectiveness of provincial risk management programs.


Job Overview
This position is responsible for BRM program delivery and works directly with agriculture producers. The primary focus of the position is providing claims investigation and adjudication expertise to ensure timely, accurate and principled claim outcomes. In addition, this position assists with client service, specifically providing information to enable effective use of BRM programs and to provide assistance to ensure timely, accurate and complete information in accessing BRM programs. 

Qualifications:
Education and Experience Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, agricultural science, or related field and a minimum of 2 years current, progressive, and related experience, or 
  • A technical diploma in business, agricultural science or related field and a minimum of 4 years current, progressive, and related experience, or 
  • An equivalent combination of education and current, progressive, and related experience may be considered. 
     

Related Experience may include

  • Direct farming experience. 
  • Experience with agricultural production or consultation. 
  • Experiece in insurance or sales. 
     

Preferences

  • Experience with claims adjusting strategies, loss validation, and indemnity processes.
  • Direct working experience in the BC tree fruit, berry, grape, vegetable, forage, grain, and/or livestock sector.
