Job Overview
Under the direct clinical supervision of a Mental Health Team Leader and the clinical direction of a qualified Child and Youth Mental Health (CYMH) clinician, the Indigenous Outreach Worker works as a member of a multi-disciplinary Mental Health Team in a number of communities. In co-ordination with other community agencies and professionals, this role provides a range of mental health services to Indigenous children and youth including: support, education and counselling to children, youth and families; intensive family support; liaison with community agencies, schools, hospitals, and other MCFD programs; involvement in community education, community development, co-ordination and prevention/early intervention programs for children and youth with or at risk of developing mental disorders.
Qualifications:
Education and Experience Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Psychology or Child and Youth Care, or equivalent field of study.
- NOTE: If this education was obtained outside of Canada, you need to confirm it has been assessed for equivalency through the International Credential Evaluation Services (ICES). You must provide a basic report by the closing date of this posting to be considered.
- Minimum one (1) year experience serving children/youth with mental health concerns.
- Must possess and maintain a valid Class 5 BC Driver’s License with no restriction or equivalent (i.e. from another Canadian Province).
Preference may be given to applicants with the following:
- Two (2) or more years experience serving children/youth with mental health concerns.
- Experience providing outreach services.
- Experience working with Indigenous children, youth, families and communities.
- Applicants who self-identify as having an Indigenous heritage (First Nations, Métis or Inuit) with the required combination of education and experience.
Important Information:
- Bachelor’s Degree must be a 4 year degree or an equivalent number of credits.
- Applicants who have not yet graduated but have completed all required courses and are able to provide a letter from their educational institution confirming completion of degree requirements may be considered.

About this Position:
Flexible work options are available; this position may be able to work up to one (1) day at home per week subject to an approved telework agreement.
An eligibility list may be established to fill future temporary and permanent vacancies.
