The Team
The Nanaimo FCBC Frontline Services Team is a well-established, collaborative group that values teamwork, respect, and inclusion. The team consists of five members who work closely with another team of six employees and a manager, creating a supportive environment where diverse perspectives and experiences are welcomed. Team members also collaborate with Water and Land Officers and other partners, fostering strong working relationships and a shared commitment to service excellence.
The Role
The Client Service Representative serves as a key point of contact for citizens, clients, and partners, providing inclusive customer service through in-person, phone, and email support, while processing applications and fees. Join a supportive team that helps steward BC’s natural resources, supports economic development and First Nations reconciliation, and makes it easier for people to access government services and enjoy natural spaces.
Qualifications:
Education and Experience Requirements
- Grade 12 graduation or GED.
- A minimum 3 years clerical or administration experience in a formal business environment, which must include all of the following:
- Providing client/customer service to a diverse range of individuals, organizations, and industries.
- Word processing, creating spreadsheets and working with standard computer applications (e.g., Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook).
- Providing client service in confrontational or highly sensitive situations.
- Providing excellent written and oral communication with a variety of clients/customers in complex situations.
- Multi-tasking, often in demanding and fast paced environments.
- Must possess a valid British Columbia Class 5 Driver’s License.
Preference may be given to applicants with one (1) or more of the following:
- Experience working in a natural resource management field.
- Experience working in a highly regulated or policy/legislation governed environment.
- Experience using a variety of client/server database applications.
- Experience with conflict resolution and negotiation in a regulatory environment.
- Additional post-secondary education in the Natural Resource sector.
Provisos
- Ability to lift and carry boxes/mailbags weighing up to 20 pounds, for distances of up to 10 feet, and to manipulate them from heights which may require the use of a foot stool.

- Must be willing to travel occasionally, for varying lengths of time.

About this Position:
This position is based out of Nanaimo.
Flexible work options are available; this position may be able to work up to two (2) days at home per week subject to an approved telework agreement.
An eligibility list may be established to fill future permanent vacancies.
A Criminal Record Check (CRC) will be required.
