The Team
The New Westminster Law Courts team is a diverse and collaborative group serving the largest integrated court location in the province. With over 52 regular full-time staff, this well-established team supports both courtroom and registry operations. Court Clerks play a vital role in providing access to justice and administrative support, working closely with the judiciary, Crown counsel, defence counsel, and other court users. The Role
This position will report to the In-Court Section and comprise of mainly Court Clerk duties. As a Court Clerk, you will support daily court operations through a combination of in-court responsibilities and registry responsibilities when not in active court. In-court duties include preparing the courtroom, managing attendance and court lists, operating courtroom technology, capturing data in the Court Clerk Desktop (CCD), recording proceedings, handling exhibits, and completing post-court tasks such as ordering transcripts. Registry work will focus mainly on processing filed documents and entering data into court software applications, amongst other related duties as assigned. You will interact regularly with the public, legal professionals, and justice partners to ensure efficient and effective client service.

Education and Experience Requirements
- Secondary school graduation or equivalent (GED).
Related Experience may include:
- Minimum of two years' administrative support or customer service experience OR an equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
- Minimum of one-year previous work experience in keyboarding, data entry, word processing, and working with standard computer applications and software programs (e.g., Windows, MS Word, Excel, Outlook).
- Keyboard speed of 40 word per minute.
Preference may be given to applicants with:
- Experience in court programs and applications (e.g., JUSTIN, CEIS, ARC, CTAS, CCD).
- Experience providing customer service.
- Experience as a Court Clerk and/or Registry Clerk.
- One year of previous work experience in a legal environment.
